I'd pretty much just end up flattening the old pillow with my head and neck... not comfortable for my neck. May as well sleep without a pillow.I thought this pillow would be great, but frankly, I think it was a Goldilocks-type case: old pillow too flat, new pillow too tall. The pillow actually squishes nicely if you push down on it, but I think the issue is that my head doesn't actually weigh that much. (I feel like I just insulted my brain...) The result is that my head and neck are lifted up rather high off the bed. Instead of having my body's weight distributed onto the bed from my shoulders to my feet, my shoulders are being lifted up and not carrying any weight, so my lower back ends up hurting from all the strain. Argh! I think I would actually enjoy this shape of pillow if I could shave 1" off the bottom to make it... The memory foam provides enough head and neck support, but isn't too firm. As with all memory foam, there is that new odor that one must adjust to. I am accustomed to the odor due to having owned other memory foam products.I highly recommend this pillow, especially if used in combination with a memory foam mattress topper or memory foam mattress. I mainly sleep on my sides and sometimes on my back and my entire spine felt completely straight the entire time. Within minutes of laying my head down on this pillow, I fell into deep sleep and wouldn't wake up until the sound of our new born crying. No more tossing and turning in the middle of the night! |
